DragonFlyBSD 5.0 Branched As The Next Release

We've known a new DragonFlyBSD release was being worked on for release soon. That release has now been branched, the first release candidate tagged, and it's being marked as version 5.0.

Succeeding DragonFlyBSD 4.8 will be DragonFlyBSD 5.0. 5.0.0-rc1 was tagged on Friday night while the code is branched for the 5.0 release undertaking. On Git master is now the DragonFly 5.1 development version.

It's not a big version bump for no reason but this release is quite exciting as it's the first offering experimental HAMMER2 support and is available from the installer. Earlier this month I did some initial HAMMER2 DragonFly benchmarks within HAMMER2 Is Looking & Performing Good As The Future DragonFlyBSD File-System.

DragonFlyBSD 5.0 also incorporates its Ryzen workaround, better Intel IX4 networking performance, and other improvements.

When DragonFlyBSD 5.0.0 is officially released, which should happen in October, I intend to run some fresh benchmarks on Phoronix.
