Amlogic Meson VPU DRM Driver In The Works
A new DRM driver is being baked for supporting the video processing unit for Amlogic Meson SoCs.
This "meson" DRM driver so far is quite basic but does so far support atomic mode-setting, FBDEV-CMA, PRIME-CMA, and GEM-CMA. The Amlogic hardware initially supported by this DRM driver is the GXBB (S905), GXL (S905X/S905D), and GXM (S912) families of SoCs.
To be supported later is CRTC/Planes management, advanced color-space conversion, scaling and HDMI modes with the current driver only supporting CVBS PAL/NTSC output modes. This Meson DRM driver has been tested to work on X.Org with xf86-video-modesetting and under Wayland with the Weston DRM code.
See this dri-devel series for more on this new four thousand lines of code DRM driver.
