Confirmed: America's Army Is Coming Back To Linux
As a quick follow-up to America's Army looking at SteamOS/Linux support from earlier this week, it turns out the developers are indeed exploring a Linux client and server.
This morning I received a message from Daniel Kolenich, the executive producer for America's Army, confirming their renewed interest in Linux client/server support. As a public reference, he had mentioned they also confirmed it in their forums recently. The Mac port is also now back on the table. "We are actively working on the Mac/Linux version, so they are on the horizon."
There will be more information to pass along on Phoronix when the Linux beta time comes closer and they are looking for Linux gamers to test their native port of America's Army: Proving Grounds. The old America's Army 2 Linux port was benchmark-friendly, so let's hope the Unreal Engine 3 powered AA:PG for Linux will be the same way!
