I think that end of support only applied to the Windows drivers. I have a GeForce GT 750M and it's working just fine with Linux driver 460.73....

Does Krita have anything similar to GIMP's heal transparency? It's the main thing I use GIMP for, but it's a mess since it breaks after every GIMP or...

Not dead, but it'll keep using the legacy driver forever. I would expect though no new features and just minimal support or fixes....

Except you need to remember the code name to set up repositories and download software for your specific version....
