populous was a great game, that i never got to play again... ...

same thing, but mine creates a desktop icon, which i assume LGP doesn't by default.

step1: right click in your desktop -> create launcher
step2: fill the command part with the explained above.

in my day to day, over these past 10 years of windows usage, its more like 50/50. specially if you REALLY use the system, and mess around with it....
