As already mentioned, it seems like the video accel was just rendering the frames in an opengl context. That's a far cry from "video acceleration"....

yep. they haven't removed the warning on the wiki page, but btrfs balance / scrub et al actually works now. used it for a while, no issues yet.

You don't need to set GDK_SCALE=2, it should just work if you're running HiDPI. GDK_SCALE=1 or 2 is just for forcing the HiDPI mode off or on.
