Phoronix: NVIDIA Confirms Linux Driver Performance Regression, To Be Fixed In 390 Series

If you think recent NVIDIA Linux driver releases have been slowing down your games, you are not alone, especially if you are running with a GeForce graphics card having a more conservative vRAM capacity by today's standards...

Michael, let's not blow things out of proportions because this regression so far affects only two games.

A bug is a bug. Even if it doesn't affect anything, it's still best fixed.

Is it bug, or regression? Bug means undefined behavior, or behavior which is different to requirements. But, games are running stable. So, it's regression.

It is two games for now , maybe even more in the future.

Root of this regression is still needs to be investigated and fixed.

It's a bug thats regressed. A regression bug. A bug...

Also, issues don't have to apply to all games to be considered a bug. If something (anything) isn't working as intended, it's a bug.

Every regression is a bug, but not every bug is a regression. They aren't at the same level.

Well, technically a performance regression could also be the result of a fixed bug, as in if original implementation was fast but incorrect

They should also take a look at software performance. There are times when intel integrated graphics card performs better than dedicated nvidia card... hopefully 390 series will fix that too.
