Well, Ubuntu 17.10 is still alpha or beta software. You shouldn't expect too much.

Yes, it is odd that they haven't updated Firefox yet.
I also use 17.10 but I use Firefox 54 because I installed Firefox from the zesty archive.
Just download the .deb file and you can install it on artful.
