Phoronix's slogan should be something like "cutting edge technology news". I mean, I now know about Gimp 2.9.4 just HOURS after it was pushed into the download mirrors thanks to phoronix. Compiling now

    Thanks Michael!

Another few years and we might finally get a stable release...

They should learn from Krita and do regular fund raising campaigns to get some full-time developers.

Developers are wasting their time. GIMP needs hi-DPI support ASAP. All other features are useless if you can't see what you are clicking on. Gimp is probably the biggest program on linux to be completely broken on hi-DPI systems.

What yo you mean? I'm using GIMP 2.8.16 on my Plasma 5.6 desktop with a DPI setting of 163 (that's ~1.3x HiDPI) and it does scale flawlessly.

True, but then again Krita 3.0 on OS X can't manage to draw a seamless/continuous closed loop Circle, rectangle, etc. Works on Linux, but takes a bath on OS X 10.11.5.

Jeez, what is your rush with the news, Michael? Can you let us post release notes first? What sort of attitude is that?

You have it all reversed in your head. Krita didn't do a kickstarter and then find developers. They had developers in the first place, then they did kickstarter. That's a huge difference.

Of course there's 16-bit per channel in 2.9.4.
