Very nice. I love Ardour, it's a super great audio workstation.

The best audio software so far on Linux, at least of those I've tried. Since it works with ALSA too, it became much more useful. I'd choose this any time over Audacity.

As I recall Ardour was having some funding problems not too long ago. It's good software. I haven't seen a professional studio use it but I've used it myself and it can do a lot of things you'd use Cubase or Pro Tools for.. so for some people this could be a real drop in replacement. It may also have been responsible for Reaver being ported to Linux. Everyone complains there are no good free alternatives to -insert proprietary industry standard application here- .. but Ardour is one of those apps.

Audacity is for basic-middling levels of competency and expectation as far as I am aware. It imports, transcodes, edits, exports in formats. It doesn't try to be a little-studio editor the likes of Pro-Tools. Unless it's seen some major improvemnts recently, it's still simply a home tool .
