    Damn, those are some pretty drastically inconsistent results. But I guess for such an early release, it's a decent start for AMD.

      What early release? This has been 6 years or so in the making and has scrapped support for everything pre-GCN just so that it could do its job.

          Huh ? We dropped pre-GCN support from Linux Catalyst because it was dropped from Windows Catalyst (which is where we get the userspace drivers).

          Perhaps you use a different calendar, but in "our years" the project has been going on for much less time than you suggest.

            I think we need to wait for loads to be written. Besides Vulkan compute won't be used like OpenCL. Vulkan will come in terribly handy for compute heavy games like RTSes, but I doubt it'll ever see adoption for traditional HPC loads.

              I never really thought about that, but you're probably right. I'm guessing it'll be great for things like physics processing and particle effects. OpenCL and CUDA will likely remain being used for non-gaming purposes.

                    Yeah, I guess I kind of confused AMDGPU with the previous open source effort from AMD. I still blame you for the whole naming "mess", though
