Phoronix: Last Minute Linux 4.5 Updates For Ceph, Thermal & MIPS

While Linus Torvalds tends to get angry about last-minute pull requests by subsystem maintainers at the end of a kernel cycle's merge window, he ended up honoring a few of them today for Linux 4.5..

I think Linus is annoyed when non-drivers code gets submitted too late for other kernel devs to comment on it. When it's drivers, it's basically standalone modules so having broken drivers in a release as opposed to no drivers at doesn't change anything anyhow.

Like, the MIPS code is pretty good example: If ImgTec are to submit it early, late, final RC or whatever... As long as it compiles I doubt anyone but them and their customers will care.

As for CephFS, well, while it's not a driver, it's such a niche having it break wouldn't really bother anyone except it's developers and users so it will be their problem and so, their risk to take.
