Phoronix: Big Graphics Card Comparison Of Metro Redux Games On Linux

While in the process of benchmarking BioShock Infinite on Linux with AMD and NVIDIA hardware given the Linux release of the title this week, I also took this opportunity to run a 22-way graphics card comparison of Metro Last Light Redux and Metro 2033 Redux on the latest AMD and NVIDIA graphics drivers atop Ubuntu 15.04. Here's those results.

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

Why not include open source radeon driver?

The Metro remakes require OpenGL 4.2.

Why? Do you expect that radeon(si) performs better than fglrx? Michael frequently does radeon vs. fglrx benchmarks and so far radeon was on par or came close on older (say HD6xxx) hardware, but didn't stand a chance on the more recent graphic card families. (It would be equally meaningless to include nouveau results.)

Second this one: giving the performance level reached by the os drivers, every review should include them

Did they fix stuttering even with v-sync? I bought MetroLL just to play it on Ubuntu and they never fixed that... I dont like stuttering at all so I never played it...

              But what does it do?!

We all know that it "needs" OpenGL 4.2 but that doesn't really answer the question on whether it can or can't run on RadeonSI or R600... What does it do when you try it? Crash? Low FPS? Missing textures? Terminal output?

Let's see what happens when we get the 1000 series next year

It won't start. If you try, it show a message saying your drivers don't support OpenGL 4.

It's trivial to make Mesa lie the version
