Firefox could carve a market out for itself by implementing JPEG XL.

firefox is almost as dead as jpeg xl.

Hell, i thought I was the only one who suffered from it, for some reason i thought it was because of my GPU.
I hope that update arrives on all distros soon.

Isn't that the format that Microsoft recently patented some math for (math that has been in the PD for years btw), recently, and that, with a crude excuse, google vetoed from his own browser the day after?

A shame, really, but I don't see it happening.

              I do!

JPEG-XL has some quite nice advantages and I would like to have support for it.

Firefox is not appealable for end-users since long time ago.

Already done - look for the setting image.jxl.enabled - it exists in FF 107.

                    Needs decoder: https://github.com/libjxl/libjxl
Package is available for openSUSE Tumbleweed, officially isn't available for openSUSE Leap.
