Am I wrong here? Isn't this driver for Xorg? Or does it use modesetting + KMS? How does it help Wayland?

I wonder if the code clean up will speed up compile times? pretty doubtful for my use, but interesting to see anyway

This is the 3D driver (Mesa) which can work with either X or Wayland. There is a separate X driver (like "modesetting") that handles 2D for X.

I don't think this particular change does anything to help or hurt Wayland, just gets all the 3D drivers (at least the gallium3D drivers) using newer/better common code.
