Its such a great piece of software. The only thing I'm missing is more support for ssd and nvme drives. Sure I don't blame the devs of LVFS ...but the vendors of the drives

Maybe people should just buy e.g. Dell laptops instead of standard ATX desktop PCs? Might be cheaper to repair and upgrade the desktop PCs, but why would anyone support Hitler and Stalin, when you could easily download and install the closed source firmware via LVFS?

Well at work I'm using Dell notebooks. The precision Line has quite a good quality and is rather easy to disassmble. LVFS support. I really like them.

But their Desktops are a nogo. Just have a look at variouse Linus Techtips, Jays2Cent, Hardware Nexus disassembly videos. They cut corners at any possible point but worst part they implement internal standards so eg you can't swap the rather crappy PSU. AFAIK they also have their own CPU cooler layout. If you want to have Vendorlockin hardware go and have dell.
Sure in the mobile sector it doesn't mater there is no free vendor independent standard.
But if you want to support a diversified Computer Hardware market with Common Standard so that you can freely choose your parts...stay away from Dell Desktop/Workstation Tower dispite their good Linux Support and LVFS for everything.
