Phoronix: KDE Plasma 5.22 Beta Ready For Testing With Much Better Wayland Experience

Someone knows if Firefox works without struggles on 5.22 "Full Wayland"?

I need to use xwayland (which is a bit confuse IMO) on the latest kde to make it work decently

Mostly, since 5.22 clipboard seems to be fixed but drag-and-drop is still broken. But overall it works fine.

Anyone else is having random kwin_wayland crashes every few minutes after doing anything? Also reported as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437083

A decade later KDE will work under Wayland perfectly! It's going to be just amazing!

Just KWin alone? All the other applications continue runing? I'd love to see that.

Oh, yeah! I always enjoy seeing people who're eating a cacti.

No, of course not, everything is killed when kwin crashes.

It doesn't. My bugs are still alive and kicking.
I have even noticed a new bug while trying to see whether the previous release fixed anything: logging into Wayland, logging out and then logging into X, breaks the scaling in X. Maximized windows don't fill the whole screen, they look like USE_QT_SCALING is enabled (another "won't fix" bug, apparently my setup with monitors having different aspect ratios is not supported). I haven't found the time to report this, but since nothing seems to get fixed in under a year, I guess there's no rush.

What good news? Every release for the past 3 years or so were about "much improved Wayland support". If half of those claims were true, Wayland support would already be stellar.

What good news? KDE Wayland still fails to work on my Intel-only system. We don't need trolls around here, but we do need room for people to criticize stuff.
