    For a moment I thought my ASUS laptop with an ALC294 would work. I'm never lucky.

      You may need a similar quirk for your laptop model like this one. The basic codec support is there.

          not related to this but is there any audio card 7.1 (not virtual) that has bass/treble control in alsa like creative has? (don't care about software like pulse equlizer and that crap)
