There are so many changes for exFAT recently, that I wonder, how I was able to use this FS until now... Jokes aside, very glad to see so many improvements mainlined!

Adding the context to this. Microsoft is a USA commercial company with legal ownership of many patents, business names, etc. Microsoft has joined the Open Invention Network (OIN) along with Samsung and "The Linux Foundation". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Invention_Network
This allows exFat now to be legally used & modified by members of the OIN, without fear of legal trouble. The very outstanding fact is that Apple is not yet a member of neither "The Linux Foundation", nor OIN.
Many are suspicious & not trusting Microsoft. However, seeming none know the hostility & distrust Apple has to open source products. Apple must follow the wishes of its shareholders first. They stay free of any kind of open source investigations. Perhaps they have investors to protect as well?
