Wow, article's 30 minutes old, and not a single pro-systemd shill in here. Maybe they're taking christmas/new years off?
Or maybe it's because they lost? I bet it's because they lost.

Is there someone here who doesn't cringe when they hear about companies "exploring alternatives"?

They did not really lose, as any packager that wants to ignore non-systemd patches is still free to do so, as long as the packager asserts they listened (they only have to claim they listened, they are not required to accept patches for alternative init systems if they don't want to). As more (and more (and more)) upstreams offer only systemd startup scripts, fewer and fewer packagers are likely willing to make much effort to accept and test alternatives, but for those that do, they can continue to do so.

What's wrong with those people, I can't wrap my mind around these weird results, I assume each one voted for just one option?:

              Thanks for the laughs, sport.

Also, thanks for all the salt mined from tears of everyone trying to hide their loss behind "cringe".

How is this a loss? They just said packages can freely use systemd without regard to any other system. That means developers, who love systemd, because it's a modern piece of software that makes everyone's lives easier, will continue to depend on it for their software. What they're saying is, if enough insane people who are actual developers get together and make another Upstart, they'll support that in the repo too. But that won't happen, because everyone loves systemd.

Then again, you're an anti-systemd troll, so you're inherently delusional, I can see how you would misinterpret "we'll continue to support systemd primarily" as "we're removing systemd from the repos".

Oh, no joke, you genuinely are a troll and don't actually hate systemd. Ignore my last comment.

No, they used a Condorcet voting. People sort proposals from the one they prefer to the one the dislike the most. Condorcet voting systems (different variants exist) essentially eliminate tactical voting and provide a great tool for real democracy ; unlike most voting systems used in politics, since politicians wants power, not democracy.
