    EPEL 8.1 sounds a lot more interesting than the non-module EPEL 8.0. It is nice they have that on the roadmap.

    AppStream should help address several issues/mess that has come up with EPEL 7.

    Some parts of the EPEL really should be moved to AppImage, Flatpak or Docker instead of continuing to be RPM based. Hopefully someday DNF (or YUM v4) can be updated to provide a single pane of glass view across RPM, AppImage, Flatpak and Docker.
