    Although it is highly unprobable, it would be nice to lower the requirements on the execution side. Nobody (aside Intel) has OpenCL 2.1 runtime, mostly due to the lack of a SPIR-V compiler, but everybody has things missing on that end. (The requirements are a SPIR-V compiler and out-of-order queue support.) ROCm only has 2.0 on the device side, but host is still 1.2+, Nvidia is in the same shoe. It's not likely things will change until OpenCL-Next and SYCL-Next. This work is likely to target those APIs once it gets mainlined.
