Is Wayland now available by default or at least via a parameter? Last time I had to build this specifically with Wayland enabled, which is quite odd as Kodi did run really really stable on Wayland.

The last time I asked, which wasn't long ago, they said you can only built it against one backend.

Hopefully their Android app will get updated to target Android 8.0 - it still targets Android 5.1 !

Targeting older Android versions allows them to support a larger set of devices, most of which never get updated.

Not the least of which is about a gazillion Fire OS devices (Fire TV/Stick/tablet) running, you guessed it, Android 5.1.

Target SDK != Min SDK . They can support older devices and also target the latest version of Android.

Google made targeting Android 8.0+ mandatory for all updates, since 1st November 2018 - and new apps launched since August 2018 had to target Android 8.0.
