Phoronix: The Faster FUSE Has Been Fused Into Linux 4.20

While File-Systems in User-Space (FUSE) have been notorious for being slow, with time FUSE has become a lot faster and with this current Linux 4.20 (5.0) development cycle there are yet more performance optimizations...

Benchmarks - or it didn’t happen
    What are interesting cases?
    NTFS! ZFS? EncFS?

I use MergerFS a lot, which is fuse-based.

I agree it would be nice to have a benchmark of fuse.
Personally I (am forced to) use a lot sshfs.
Debian is having a transition from fuse 2.x to fuse 3.x, it would also be interesting to see if 3.x improves performance vs 2.x.

These changes should help quite a bit with mergerfs. Especially the increase from 128KB to 1MB transfers.

I'm about to put out a new release focused mostly on new features. I'm going to be looking at porting to libfuse3 next which will hopefully help with performance as well.

I am testing kernel 4.20.0-0.rc6.git1.1.fc30.x86_64 on Fedora 29.

To get fuse improvement is it mandatory to rebuild fuse, ntfs-3g and encfs rpm using 4.20 devel and headers ?
