            I wonder if this "Enhanced IBRS" is basically just doing what AMD processors have been doing, and if it's going to lower performance.

              Since these are future CPUs, shouldn't they be fixing the problem instead of mitigating it?

                I doubt there will be a complete fix for such kind of problems -- it's very likely that new side channels would be discovered after fixing the known ones.
