Myself, I tend to avoid writing long, complicated scripts in bash. But some people manage it. If you want to see a large (nearly 7000 lines!) yet well-written bash script, just look at this: http://git.videolan.org/?p=ffmpeg.gi...c75294;hb=HEAD (configure script from the FFmpeg source code).
