this seems to be for the git project itself. not sure why they put this into their release tarball, but it is included.

It's not like this doesn't apply more generally to almost any OSS project

My first impression of this Git change was "Git Gone Woke" but then I gave it more thought.

If your commit has issues, then I think that you the committer would lik to know what I think they are and why I think they are issues. To behave any other way would be dishonest.

If I think your commit is good work, then I will say "You did good work" and stop consuming your valuable time by writing those 4 words in the format of a 1000 essay.

Sometimes a commit simply needs no more than a "good job" post to acknowledge it, especially if the coding style is clean & simple & effective.

If I think your commit did something creative or unique and was a positive contribution to the commit (and perhaps even the larger codebase), then yes I think a sentence (or two, at most) saying so would be greatly appreciated by the committer.

If your ego needs such serious stroking that I need to elaborate across multiple paragraphs about what you did good in a commit, PA..LE..ZEE !

Yet now we have a tool that encourages that ego stroking behavior. Have we become that shallow and-or that vapid as a race of sentient beings?

          Another release for the nerds.

I would like to see Git focusing on becoming more user-friendly and more approachable to non-tech guys and people who aren't so smart or are new to development too.

I really like how the recent release of APT made the console output much more easy to grasp which packages would be installed and updated. I think Git could also be made more friendly.

Git has a built-in web user interface but it is tricky to use because you have to setup your own web server and configure it. I think it would be great if the web UI in Git was self-hosted so you could easily and quickly run it without having to install any web server and configure anything.

Leave the CLI be. There are countless user friendly GUIs out there, we don't need the bloat to be built in.

Non-tech persons are probably better off with an UI that is targeting their needs and workflows.

Even newer developers can probably use GUIs, integration in the IDEs and such, before learning the power of the CLI.

Doesn't of course mean the CLI tools can't improve how they are being used and git has already come a long way since the early versions.

Pretty much, yep. Congrats to Git for merging the participation trophy into coding.

Doing an acceptable job does not warrant praise. Any praise given for it is false and the one being praised knows it if they're not a moron. It's the baseline. It's what's expected if you're going to code at all. Doing an exceptional job is what warrants praise.

Why would a few sentences encouraging people to be kinder to other human beings produce that first impression in you? Seems a bit pathological.

Ah, I see you know nothing about effective people management.

This text sounds a bit ridiculous tbh.

At first I thought this is meant as a joke. Is it the first of April?

Why doesn't it mention giving a negative review when the code sucks? Very one-sided.

I mean honestly, this text does not belong to the code base! The text is written in a very unprofessional and informal language:

If your positive review is written well, it will
not make you look as if you two are representing corporate
interest on a series that is otherwise uninteresting to other
community members and shoving it down their throat.
                    Seriously??!
