It is a great system and we should be glad to have it. Though there are some -legitimate- fears about Red Hat getting aspirations of grandeur and turning into a little Microsoft in the future....

For one thing, systemd is not RedHat, and moreover, systemd is LGPL which ensures that neither RedHat not anyone else can make it non free. So I believe that those fears are immaterial.

As someone else said "systemd is not just an init process". That I agree with.

Systemd is a dubious ideology interjected into a solution to the old init.d, which is indeed a crappy system.

Yes, solving problems - always good. But it matters a lot how you solve the problem as well. And it seems that the author of systemd has these delusions of grandeur that makes him believe that his way is the best way. There is no alternative so this ideology is simply force-fed down our throats.

This is perhaps one of the biggest problems with free software IMO - deluded visionaries.

Just shows and proves systemd is a cancerous growth killing the Linux ecosystem.

Technically, no. But in reality, the Chromium source code is hosted by Google. Not so much for systemd: it's not hosted by Red Hat.

if i see another article gushing about how open Habana's Gaudi is, i might lose it. he barely clicks his own links.

this systemd article is obvious ragebait as someone else pointed out.

I agree. Who will write and promote a major systemd competitor?

                    It's not "Linux", it's not "GNU/Linux", it's "GNU/systemd/Linux".

So naturally I'm waiting to see who bites.
Yep, sit back, relax and enjoy the ensuing usual Systemd bunfight.
