Phoronix: Qt 6.2 LTS Will Nearly Be At Feature Parity To Qt 5.15

When the Qt 6.0 tool-kit debuted last year much of the early criticism stemmed around it not having all the modules/functionality ported over from Qt5 meanwhile The Qt Company was restricting newer Qt 5.15 LTS point releases to paying customers only. Since then the developers have been working to address the voids in Qt6 and with the upcoming Qt 6.2 as their next long-term support release, all of the important functionality should be in place...

Impressive, if it continues in that pace we could see KDE Plasma 6 in 2025.

That's nothing. By then GNOME will have accomplished so much that they'll be releasing version 572 while GTK will be releasing the first GTK5 into beta.

I am waiting for Qt 5.15.3
According to the agreement between them and KDE, they should publish their code source after one year at most.

Really good news. Now we can start expecting a timeline for KDE's migration to Qt6. There probably won't be one anytime soon, but we can start expecting.

Yey, lets hear it for "almost parity with 2.5 years old dead end".

And it'll break all the extensions for 571.

And why would we want KDE to migrate? KDE is working just fine as is.

I fail to see why Qt6 is going to so much better then Qt5, while at the time Qt5 was the best thing ever and we couldn't wait to migrate from Qt4.

And GIMP would be stuck in GTK 3 by the time GTK 5 comes out.
