      For some projects the transition (or at least preparation) has already started, but for many larger projects that are using far more of the Qt functionality they will need to wait until Qt 6.2(ish) to really start, as that is when Qt 6 is expected to complete most of the add-on porting. The Qt company and their various customers certainly learned that previous transitions were just too hard, and an explicit goal was to make Qt5 to Qt6 an easier transition for many (with combinations of providing the new APIs in later Qt 5 versions to allow one to start the code changes earlier, and by providing the Qt5Compat library to allow one to continue to use some removed APIs in Qt6 without immediate code changes).

      However, realistically, some projects are going to stay on Qt5 for quite some time (just as some projects are still on Qt4).
