git fsck should be renamed too, because the name sounds like the F word. (sarcasm)

Git itself should be renamed as it’s an old English term for a fool or someone of no worth. Not very inclusive is it 🙄

once you've made this change, you'll then inevitably end up on a merry go round of inclusivity reviews as language changes and adapts to bring in new terminology and then later reject it.

if you're very lucky, you won't have wasted more time on the inclusivity reviews than you did developing the product your making. if you're [very] lucky!

at some point, reasonable people will turn around to each other and say; "the offence given is so marginal that it simply isn't worth worrying about..."

Soon every word will be banned and everything will have to be yes and no.

If they change the default branch name from "master", they will break a lot of people's scripts.

No doubt. But slavery is not such a point, surely.

The keyword there, though, is "default". While the name is indeed used in many scripts, most of those scripts are written for the purpose of interacting with existing repos, which will remain as "master". A change of the default name would only be relevant for repos created in the future... so while some scripts will certainly be broken, it's probably not as many as you might be imagining...

I have always enjoyed the comical combinations you can make with tool names, unzip, man mount, man fsck, zip
