Phoronix: GCC 10 Lands Support For Targeting TI's 32-bit PRU Processor

New to the GCC 10 compiler code-base this week is a port for the Texas Instruments Programmable Real-Time Unit (PRU) processor found on various boards, including the likes of the BeagleBone Arm SBCs...

This is rather interesting and could move the PRU into the maker sphere. Easy access to the PRU brings all sorts of possibilities for embedded uses.

This is a good thing because TI has been slowly painting themselves into a shit corner.
All sorts of esoteric hardware with software stacks completely defunct or at best alpha state.
A lot of their so called driver code looks like "My first C++ project".
Their last attempt at the video encoding space turned into sand.
It had an overly complex software stack in alpha state that nobody really understood, hardly TI themselves.

If TI could manage to shift software quality to something that would stand open source kernel scrutiny with all their esoteric hardware they would be in a much better position. With a much more vibrant and functional ecosystem to boot.
