      Hopefully depending on libs with fortran components on Windows soon won't be as much of a pain as it is now.

          You're thinking of COBOL. Fortran is very poorly suited for business code, and is mainly used in scientific/engineering stuff; a large percentage of HPC applications are Fortran.
