Phoronix: Oracle Releases Solaris 11.4 "CBE" Free For Open-Source Developers / Non-Production Use

Oracle has begun making a new version of Solaris 11.4 available for free/open-source developers and for non-production personal use. Oracle Solaris 11.4 "CBE" was announced to little fanfare last month for what many open-source OS enthusiasts will likely argue is too little, too late...

So, it's useless except as a toy...
If Oracle were seeking to get some people to use the OS, then they just failed.

I hear they are offering a 3 million dollar incentive package to use the new Solaris.

Which means all three users get a million dollars!! Whoo hoo!!

If it's the one in the photo, it looks like a distribution from 20 years ago!

Yeah, the kind of desktop designed just for Gnome 3 detractors.

In truth, if you click on the photo, the caption seems to refer to an old article from 2008, so only 14 years ago.

Yes, let's write free sw for a dead OS. Why does Oracle even bother?
