    Was it not possible to simply apt-get install openvpn before?

      i think it was possible, but breaks/disable future OTA updates.

      Also,pptp? Is still anyone using this broken vpn with openvpn around... let that **** die!

        Generally speaking, no. It's not possible to update and install packages like in any debian-like distribution. First of all, because the root tree is mounted read-only. But even if you mount it rw, it's not advisable as it can break things. Anyway, I've just tried an "apt-get update" and apparently also the repositories in sources.list are not correct (it gives a 404 not found error).

          Thanks, that’s really disappointing. If I can’t configure/use an Ubuntu phone like I want then I might as well use Android… (almost)
