    SuperOpen

Linux (Ubuntu included) needed a SuperPhone with all hardware, firmware and software specifactions completely open. Even if cost over a thousand Euros.

You mean the Jolla phone, right?

Jolla's not like that, part closed source sw, certainly not open fw or hw design. OpenMoko is closer.

While I appreciate the efforts of Jolla in terms of open core, open stack, and upstream contributions, the currently proposed spec are definitely not some of a "superphone".

What do you need a high-end CPU for in a phone anyway?

It's like putting a V12 and tank treads on a volkswagen golf...

The only layer that isn't open is the top-most layer, the UX, but even there they've already confirmed it'll be open.
The only reason they won't just yet, is because of concern that others will grab that final layer, & offer their own device based on the complete stack.
After their 1st device is out, they will then open that final layer, this is what they have already said, quite clearly.
Of course, it remains to be seen....

To get rid of your laptop and your desktop.
                  Only have a phone.
Take it wherever you go, and dock it to a keyboard, mouse and screen and it should be powerful enough to do real work.

I look forward to 8-core 64-bit phones with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.

                    ,

While it may seem like a neat idea on paper, IMO there are a few practical hurdles that come to mind that render the "phone as your desktop/laptop" concept of the Ubuntu Edge impractical:
                    • What happens if you loose your phone or it develops a fault?
                    • If you still need a keyboard etc. to use it as a desktop, why not go the full hog and have a full desktop system?
                    • What happens if you receive a call when the phone is being used as a desktop and you don't want to use a loudspeaker?

Motorola tried the similar idea with the Atrix phone and it's netbook-like dock, it wasn't a success.

Indeed, if you need to dock it, you might as well have the dock do all the work, i.e. use an all-in-one/laptop.
