Not only Android is open source, now the hardware is, too:

The graphics drivers for the Google Nexus S just went open source and they want to have more hardware drivers avaible like that.

I must have missed something but can't find anything in the link you posted suggesting the driver to be open sourced. The tarball linked in the article also only contains blobs.
