The original PinePhone used the Lima open-source GPU driver,

From https://www.pine64.org/pinephonepro/, it says the GPU is the ARM Mali T860
so this uses Panfrost Midgard or is it (utgard/bitfrost/valhalla) open-source GPU driver?

If i didn't have a PinePhone (UBPorts edition), i could be very hype by this one.
But eh, i won't pay 399$ + tax for the upgrade.

But good news for others. The last version was good phone for developpers and linux advanced users but was a bit low powerfull. With this Pro version, nothing can stop us !

My main pain point with the PinePhone has been the weak/old GPU with only GLES 2.0 support. According to https://www.collabora.com/news-and-b...with-panfrost/ this GPU will have GLES 3.1 with Mesa drivers - much much better! This should e.g. allow Firefox to run with hardware Webrender.

Unfortunately, that's not all that difficult. The Librem 5 is a dysfunctional brick.

Did they ever get MMS fully working on any of these phones? Without that and VoLTE, they don't seem like a viable choice yet.
