LOL, that's slow...

I was on the GNU site just the other day, watching their cheesy "evil proprietary secret backdoor software hijacking" video, and not that I disagree that proprietary has a history of backdoors, but that plot, where the good guy jumps on his open source bike and rides off to to save the day... the reality of it would be something closer to trying to get it started, just to realize FOS linux has no working driver for the throttle yet... so he spends a few hours trying to get it working... and bad guys win...

I recently installed pop os on a new ideapad laptop, and I could not get the trackpad working, FFS, it is just a trackpad, a basic input device. I tried 5-6 solutions I found online, and none of those worked. See, it shouldn't take downloading custom sources and compiling the kernel to get a trackpad running.

What's worse, booting back to windoze, I found that the trackpad wasn't working there neither. Thanks linux... luckily, it worked after a reboot... but still.

Stuff like that is inexcusable in 2021...

On my Yoga 7 the module "ideapad_laptop" is loaded automatically.

I would love to see
a) fast charge support (laptop loads very slow)
b) graphical userland support for this.
I don't think having to echo numbers into files where you have to know what and where these files are and what the numbers you have to use even mean is not appropriate anymore in this day and age.

I'm having the same problem on legion with AMD Ryzen7. Just found some "fix" on the internets:

cd /sys/class/gpio/
echo 386 > export
cd gpio386
echo out > direction

The trackpad works (click, track, 2-finger scroll), but there's no right-click anyways.
