    I wanted to test this so I tried R1 in qemu. Could not get the darn thing to boot up properly so I am hoping I can get it running this time. Looking forward to trying it out

      Alrighty thanks , I just tried it and it failed just like before. Fetching the k49 variant soon! - thanks for the heads up!

        I take that back. Both K49 and regular versions are working for me. It appears R2 is the first release in a long where the default Android x86 kernel works with Virgl. Nice!

        Try using my QEMU script in a bash script file if you still have issues (needs the latest QEMU 4.2). You'll need to make sure the user account has KVM access rights so you don't have to run it as root. Don't forget to enable "Native Bridge" once installed.

        Code:
        QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=pa \
        qemu-system-x86_64 \
        -m 2048 -smp 2 \
        -cpu host \
        -name Android \
        -boot menu=on \
        -drive file=$HOME/AndroidVM/android.qcow2,if=virtio \
        -drive file=$HOME/Downloads/android-x86_64-9.0-r2.iso,media=cdrom \
        -enable-kvm \
        -machine q35 \
        -device nec-usb-xhci \
        -device usb-tablet \
        -device virtio-vga,virgl=on \
        -nic user \
        -net user,hostfwd=tcp::5555-:22 \
        -soundhw hda \
        -display sdl,gl=on
