The reason for the improved feeling is down to the higher kernel ticks of Clear's kernel vs. Arch's: 1000 Hz against 300 Hz.
Now, if you were to use Canonical's "lowlatency" kernel (1000 Hz + PREEMPT) and combine that with some basic tweaks [performance governor & kyber IO-scheduler & swappiness=1 & nowatchdog & irqbalance & triple-buffering & some more I can't remember right now] your mind probably wouldn't even be able to handle all the awesomness!
