Can somebody enlighten me - as a completely apple-agnostic non apple user - about the actual technical issues that make it so hard to get Linux on Apple. The article by Michael was a bit terse on technical details. For the drive is it "just" the missing EFI driver? Is there crypto stuff or security chips that needs to be cracked? And what is it about the keyboard which was once the most simple input device?

That's allright I suppose, apple is mostly just for suckers who fall for marketing bullshit and don't know what to do with their money tho.
It amazes me they can sell people on the idea of having just one mouse button, they're really damn good at marketing, I'll have to give them that. Too bad it's the only thing they're good at.Last edited by rabcor; 04 July 2019, 03:34 AM.

Apple will probably not move to UEFI before they eventually decide to drop x86_64 entirely, and ARM uses a different firmware ... I'm not sure there even is a board firmware standard like UEFI for ARM.
