        We now have an auto-updater in LibreOffice [1], just not in a release yet.

          Meh. That's a job for package managers, not for the software. If each Linux app had its own autoupdater, Linux would be unusable.

          Hopefully Flatpak guys will solve this for flatpak too.

                  I think this is for other platforms. Ioquake3 updates are already self-contained on GNU and BSD.
