  • R9 390

I have both an R9 380x and an R9 390. I use Debian Unstable using kernel 4.7rc2, Mesa 11.2 and Ubuntu 16.04 using amdgpu-pro beta drivers 16.30 (had 16.20 before with same problems). In almost every combination the R9 390 sucks. In Ubunt it can't do DisplayPort 1.2 using amdgpu-pro driver, is slower than the 380x at almost everything and when it is actually faster (Borderlands, Shadow of Mordor), it crashes with a black screen. In Debian it's fairly stable but considerably slower than the 380x, both using the amdgpu (not pro) driver.

Is anyone having a positive experience with an R9 390? If so, what distro, driver, settings are you using. Thanks!

BTW, I am very pleased with how the 380x (my only gripe is it can't do 144Hz but does 120 and 90 OK in Debian. using amdgpu-pro driver in Ubuntu it can do 144Hz OK) is working but the 390 is supposed to be considerably faster, right? I deleted Windows so I can't test the card using it.

Working...
