Yep, to each their own. I was just saying, it doesn't seem fair to punish a developer for not supporting drivers that are hard to support. To me it seems more fair to punish the manufacturer into coming up with up-to-par drivers.

This is where you might not be hearing what others are saying. You are basically saying "don't buy AMD until they accurately emulate the undocumented out-of-spec API usage that NVidia drivers allow, so that games developed only on NVidia will always work on AMD with zero effort even if the app does not follow the OpenGL spec".

I'm not sure that's what you really want, unless you work for NVidia.

Depends on what your goal is. If it is "only" linux gaming, then what you say is good enough.
For me, the goal is supported FLOSS drivers, so supporting AMD is actually the only option (intel gaming is a joke). I then refuse to buy games not supported on FLOSS drivers. (Actually I refuse Steam altogether, but that's another story).
Not trying to convince you, saying you're wrong or anything, just trying to emphasize that there might be different criteria for different people.

Wasn't it a big thing a while ago how AMD's drivers are actually more stringent and that's why they are worse? So wouldn't stop buying Nvidia be a better answer to encouraging "proper" behavior? Also AMD cards are supported on mac which leads me to beleive the OGL path is fine and Feral is just being lazy with linux.

Yes, that's a big part, too. Nvidia has profiles for like every title. The open AMD driver doesn't and it won't have anytime soon. Since no one expects Catalyst on Windows to ship without proper profiles, I don't know why AMDGPU would be allowed to do it just because it's open.

For those curious, I will be trying out the game on RadeonSI (F23), and with Catalyst (Ubuntu) on an R9 290. Will report back with my findings via an article

Did anyone expect any differently. Game devs have been having problems with Catalyst for ages and Mesa isn't at OGL4.3/4.4 yet.

And OSX does only support OpenGL 4.1 so i can't take that as an valid argument.

It would be better if we knew exactly what's not working or what extensions that's missing, if not they can always say things like everything but nvidia isn't working even that the support is there.
If it works with AMD and open source drivers then i will buy this game if not then i will continue to play xcom eu and ew.
I think that they might say this because AMD isn't supported by steamOS and not because it doesn't work.

I have a few games that aren't officially supported for AMG GPUs, but I can run them without any problem with my open source AMD drivers (r600). And, on Steam, if you launch the game and see that it doesn't work, you can get your money back.

Yes the same they say about Borderlands 2 for Linux, but it played fine on my Radeons.

Nope bought it third party at GMG once I get my keys that's final.
