There's no word if the "Brewmaster" codename was influenced due to when I delivered beer to the Valve Linux developers on the behalf of Phoronix readers and the Linux community.
It's a hero in Dota2. Also, wasn't the previous release named "Alchemist"? So Alpha -> Beta maybe?

Turns out Michael is in fact Brewmaster

Btw. afaik the first SteamOS was called Alchemist (a hero from Dota, too) and not Alchemy.

Is there a way to benchmark the SteamOS compositor vs, say, compiz in Ubuntu, kwin in kde, etc.?

So the next version... Clockwerk? Crystal Maiden? Centaur Warrunner? Clinkz?

Sadly, we're going to have to wait quite a bit for SteamOS "Techies"

Does this mean even SteamOS has now switched to systemd?

Don't they... kinda not use any of the current init systems? iirc, it just kinda boots the kernel, starts X and then starts Steam + any associated programs. It's not like it has a desktop environment or too many other things running in the background.

Upgrades are always good - less compliants from new hardware users, more from old
