Phoronix: Valve Steam Machines: Now Look Forward To 2015

While it looked like Steam Machines would be ready to take on other living room PCs/consoles in 2014, the latest update from Valve moves the focus to 2015...

There's no way they can release this thing without some really good launch titles. Or it's going to flop.

Well this might be another reason for the push. Ports are happening, but there's no need to rush them. Also, they need a proper steam controller support, which takes time.

Yep, they need more titles if the current console guys are to take them seriously.

Xorg is here to stay, at least until NVIDIA and AMD support Wayland in their closed drivers.

            look for convergence

            My speculation:

It looks like the new Nexus devices will be powered by Tegra K1. Multiple sources imply that the new Molly set top box will be a commercial variant of the Jetson TK1, and the Nexus 8 might be the Xiaomi miPad, or very similar.

The Molly product could run Android, SteamOS, or ChromeOS. So there might be some sort of convergence there, as unreal 4 and the source engine have been ported to the TK1.

No they don't need titles necessarily.

That gap will be covered by Steam In-Home Streaming where you would be able to play any Windows purchased Steam game in your TV as long as your TV is connected with your Steam BOX (or any other PC) and of course you have a network.

Steam Remote Play a way for people with good home networks to seamlessly play their Steam games between two computers running Steam.

In-house streaming will have to have a PC running windows to be able to play any game on the steambox. So basically, you can play any windows game on your TV as long as it's connected to your steambox which in turn is connected to your gaming rig running windows.

                  Half-Life 3 confirmed.

More like the "year of the Linux living room."

Fair enough, Pick a card, i mean pick a pc game, any pc game.
it's just a pre-built pc with an optional tweaked debian OS, why would anyone need a launch title for a pc?
