Linux is not a problem if you have a constrained set of supported architectures and applications. It becomes a problem if you give too much freedom. For example should you use systemd and pulseaudio or something else. That's a difficult issue. You can't expect them to test everything.

      This is huge:

Gabe expects all of Valve's games will run on Linux/SteamOS
Of course, it doesn't mean that everyone will magically install Linux in their computers. But it will be incredibly easy to set up a tremendously functional low cost PC: Google Chrome for Web + Office, Steam for Games. It is a great day to be a Linux user.

Yes, but it's also an issue about quality, afaik Apple's default solution is also good for audio editors, on Linux you have to use (and learn, which is most of the problem) using jack because of the latency.

Systemd by now is an easy choice, can't lose.
X.org isn't gone, wayland isn't ready yet. Libreoffice for most MS office users is a pita.

To sum it up, while it's getting better, desktop Linux isn't there yet about quality.

Haha. That is so true. Nowadays my desktop is basicly a simple Ubuntu with Google Chrome + Steam and that's it. Using a lot of webapps like Google Play Music, Gmail, Feedly, Tweetdeck, Google Keep, etc. and have them pinned as standalone apps in the Unity launcher. And Steam is for all things related to gaming and also to chat.

            On the "exclusive titles" topic.

I think is ok no exclusive titles at the moment.... BUT

TIME EXCLUSIVES could help the Steam Machines a lot.

Kinda how DOTA2 was exclusive to windows while on beta, linux/steamOS could have time or beta exclusives as an extra reward for early adopting these new devices.

OSX is unique in being ootb usable amongst the major operating systems. Linux COULD get there if major distros moved to an rt kernel and installed/enabled JACK since PA should now work well with it (i.e., you'll use PA until something calls for JACK). LO is probably good enough for most office users (yeah, there's the old argument about anyone only uses a few office features, but they all use different ones...I'm not sure that's true). The biggest blocker is probably the lack of polished/stable apps. Docker could help with that.

Yeah, cause shitty cell phone apps are going to displace a 22 billion dollar a year industry. BTW, that number is only for PC gaming, which grew from 20 billion in 2012 to 22 in 2013, and is on pace to grow in 2014 to 25 Billion. Your attempt at trolling is poor.
