      Soon, hopefully, you won't even need a copy of Doom 3 to play. BTW it's on Steam for like 10 bucks I think. Doesn't work with BFG edition!

        First of all you can play D3BFG via wine or with

        Doom 3 BFG Edition source port with updated DX12 / Vulkan renderer and modern game engine features - RobertBeckebans/RBDOOM-3-BFG


        but that does not support videos.

          I see no reason why you couldn't use the BINK video support in FFMPEG to add video support to the open source version of Doom 3 BFG...

                Max's post nicely sums it up. IdTech4 is practically ancient technology at this point. You're not going to see many games using it until the renderer is modernized and optimized to be even remotely competitive with the other idtech based engines that have evolved beyond it.
