I won't call WoW a good MMORPG. It's mostly mindless grind fest and hack-n-slash. Good roleplaying environments should also encourage players to learn what Mary Sue syndrome means, but WoW doesn't seem to do it.

All we'd need is for the game to be released on Linux first, and on Windows a month or so later. But nobody wants to risk even that.

We don't object to proprietary games, as long as there are sufficient alternatives for choice.

May I say something?. What we need on Linux are exclusive games not available for Windows. Something GOOD to make people say "Gosh, I want to play that but it requires me to switch to Linux." It would happen slowly, but surely and it's not to late to start. We need something like a Humble Linux Bundle and a distro Like Xubuntu (I use it) with apps that are familiar clones installed by default.

Default apps like Kolour paint, Sylpheed, BleachBit, gThumb, VLC, Kopete, FFMpeg, Gimp, Skype etc. Those are clones, except Skype of course, that should be included as default for any distro, simply because they are so familiar and make people very comfortable I have found. Most of the distros I have tried include unfamiliar software. For Xubuntu I do remove the dock and put the top bar on bottom, I also make a custom Quick Launch. Basically if you used my system as it is now, and you were a Windows user, you would feel extremely comfortable. By their self, a new user would be overwhelmed and most do in fact go back to dirty Windows, or (ewww) dual boot.

This is not silliness either, I used Windows exclusively since '98 until last year. I know what I'm talking about. Also, the old hats have to let the whole "free software only" idea go away, there is plenty of room for paid software and the 'Software Center' proves that. Using my ideas, I have helped several local people switch and they enjoyed it, so obviously I'm thinking clearly. Back on topic, if the rumors are true, I hope Blizzard would finally release their Linux WoW client, that would satisfy the MMO need on Linux and probably bring in more companies. As far as Wine and WoW, It's not really an option In my opinion; a default install requires some tweaks that a new user wouldn't want to do. There isn't really a lot of info on this game yet, like actual game play.

I think you misunderstand me, when I say that the bottom has in someways fallen out of high-resource, high-graphics engines that was in no way a comment on the actual quality of the game titles themselves. I am merely observing the popularity of engines such as Unity as compared to ones like Unigine (to pick of only two examples) and the general trend away from huge graphical power and even larger hardware demands for portability and ease of development. The quality of the games made on engines targeting either niche is a completely different and separate issue.

It does seem a little too mellow for a game involving combat. It needs to be more like Eluveitie or Finntroll.

I really liked oilrush, nice to see them continuing the evolution of their engine.
oilrush graphics amaze me, shame more people don't play it.

hope thisone has a good PvP/RvR ...castle fights etc.
PvE is boring grind for me, unless there is really good story behind it.
PvP/RvR gives the variatation and endless ways to enjoy the game, when nicely implemented that is.

lets wait and see..graphics look great but absolutely no gameplay shown, so i dont just randomly throw my money away just yet.

Not sure about the "industry" - it sounds too undefined to me, and I usually don't care for "mass produced" type of games. Games with good story like the Witcher series aren't common indeed, but it's like that with everything. There is "mass production" with minimal effort, with no well thought story and etc, and there is something really well made (and well doesn't mean that one has to spend tens of millions on it by the way).

Here is a good video on the subject: https://youtube.com/watch?v=24qJXgiuO1E

And I doubt that people move away from good games specifically. Gaming was always a niche market, putting more than average demand on hardware and etc. So I don't think this market is really getting smaller.

Not smash 5 billion digital rabbits into dust to gain 1 in 100+ levels that take a minimum of a year of grinding 4-6 hours a day in the hopes that I will eventually be able to be strong enough to not instantly die against other players that have already maxed their chars.
Exactly. If the game will be promoting serious roleplaying instead of brainless hack-n-slash it would be good MMORPG. Otherwise it'll be another clone of MMO without the RPG part.
